A well-known scene of a mother's life...

About three hours after the first feeding session of the day (all showered, dressed and ready to start the day) I finally get the chance to prepare the perfect Earl Grey tea with a spoon of honey and, of course, some milk.

I open the door to the terrace, a fresh air with a floral scent enters, the colourful plants invite me to sit down and read the two fashion magazines I bought about one week ago (and I haven’t open them yet). The perfect time for a small “me-time” moment.

And then suddenly, Bástian kindly asks me (read: starts to cry hysterically) to feed him…

An oh-so -well-known scene out of every mother’s life. To be a mom is like participating a race…a road full of unexpected curves but behind each one of them is an amazing new experience. Something you never thought you would live…

Do you remember?

started to write in my son's diary as of the day before I found out I was pregnant (when I bought the pregnancy test sithout my husband knowing it), so I have already advanced quite some pages.

I hear some of you think "will the boy ever want to read hundreds of pages about hormons, parental preocupations, vomits and, yes, poo?". If he is interested, he will have the chance, if not...I still will! Thinking about my childhood, it would be very nice to know when I first laughed, when I got sick, what did my mother feel when she felt the first kick inside her! I wrote all of this down and I really think one day I will want to re-read the complete story...

I try to make the diary funny and not to detailed. A light version of the hard reality and the (so many) amazing moments and experiences.

So I can only recommend it to everybody! Take the time to write it all down...if you don't have time the day something important happens, just write down the date and fact and afterwards the details! Add some printed picture of special dates and you have a very personal and wonderful memory/gift for your children...

A new life...

And then, suddenly...I started a new life! In only just one second from a loving wife to an enamoured mom of a beautiful son! That second changed my life, my world and my way of looking at things!

Yes, having a child is amazing, I was and still am speechless of what you feel when you see the eyes of your baby for the first time.
Yes, it is a indescribable feeling, something someone only can understand when experiencing it and in the moment no words are needed. Only a subtle smile, a look on the face of the newly dad, that says more than words.
But becoming a mom or a dad cannot always be described as "la vie en rose". We have to be honest and realistic, see the things as they are.

You will never sleep as before, nor carefree.
You will enjoy and even start to worship silence.
A 2 hour long movie takes about 5 hours to watch, so you will lose some time there which will be recuperated while eating, because it will take about 5 minutes in stead of 30 to finish your plate.
You will never again plan something, you will get fustrated if you do!
And your bed suddenly seems so much smaller (because YES, you will let your child sleep in your bed, and you really should! It is SO cozy!)

But one thing is for sure...you will meet the love of your life!

It is worth it, believe me! But easy? No...
